Print file checklist: brochure, cmyk, finishes: spot-uv, fold

Document setup
- Set the page to the trim size, then add bleed (3 mm / 0.125 in is typical) on all sides that carry colour or images to the edge.
- Keep text and logos inside a safe margin of at least 3 to 5 mm from trim.
- Page order and orientation as the printer wants: single pages for most digital jobs, spreads only if asked.
- Crop marks offset from the bleed edge, not inside it, if the printer asks for marks.

Colour
- Convert to the printer's CMYK profile (ask which; FOGRA39/FOGRA51 in Europe, SWOP/GRACoL in the US are common names), or follow their instruction to send RGB.
- Check total ink coverage stays under the stock limit (about 300% coated, 260% uncoated, as a convention).
- Use K only for small black text; rich black (e.g. 60/40/40/100) for big solid areas; never 400% registration black.
- Soft-proof vivid RGB colours: neon and highly saturated tones fall outside CMYK.
