Before: what you give it
The example input, as typed in. You paste text, CSS, markup or notes.
unnamed link
After: what comes back
The first lines of a real run on that input. Nothing here is edited by hand.
unnamed-link: static results over-report. A link with no text is reported even when the browser never exposes it.
Over-reports when:
- Links with aria-hidden="true" (often with tabindex="-1"), such as an image tile that sits beside a named text link to the same page.
- Links inside a container hidden with display:none, the hidden attribute or visibility:hidden.
Under-reports when:
- Links whose name is supplied by script or by aria-labelledby pointing at generated text.
- Links that get their text from CSS content (the browser may or may not count it).
Trust it: Trust a count of unnamed links only after removing aria-hidden and hidden ones. Trust it fully for links that are visible and focusable.
Browser check (Puppeteer, page already loaded): Count links in the browser's accessibility tree and list those with an empty name.
const cdp = await page.createCDPSession();
await cdp.send('Accessibility.enable');
const { nodes } = await cdp.send('Accessibility.getFullAXTree');
const links = nodes.filter(n => n.role?.value === 'link' && !n.ignored);
const unnamed = links.filter(n => !(n.name?.value || '').trim());

What you get
When static results over-report, when they under-report, and a Puppeteer or DevTools snippet
What it cannot do
A fixed lookup table; nothing is fetched or run, and findings outside the table return only the list of ids.
